U16 Red Wins Their Third Consecutive Championship

Knights U16 Red had an outstanding 2024-2025 season in the St George Basketball Association, winning the Division 2 Championship and securing their third consecutive title! This victory continues the team’s success from previous seasons, having won the 2023-2024 Under 14 Division 1 Championship and the 2024 Under 16 Division 3 Championship, further proving their growth and resilience. 

A Strong and Consistent Season 

The team had an impressive regular season, scoring a league-high 786 points while conceding only 556 points, demonstrating their balance between offence and defence. Throughout the season, they maintained their dominance, ultimately reaching the top. 

In the semi-final, they secured a 29-24 victory over the Wonton Warriors, before going on to defeat the Dunking Dolphins 45-40 in the grand final on 13 March 2025, claiming the Division 2 Championship! 

Defence and Teamwork Were the Key to Victory 

Defence played a crucial role in the championship game. Leon Cui and Joshua Lai took turns marking the Dunking Dolphins’ key centre, while their teammates applied double-team pressure, shutting down their opponents’ ability to score in the paint. This defensive effort was a major factor in securing the win. 

On the offensive end, Leon scored 16 points, and Joshua contributed 14 points, leading the team with composure. The entire squad demonstrated selfless passing and great chemistry, ensuring that every player had opportunities to contribute on both ends of the court.

Balanced Scoring and Team-Focused Basketball 

The team’s success wasn’t built on individual efforts but on strong teamwork. Every player played a role in their offensive strategy, making them a well-rounded and efficient team.

1. Joshua Lai – 127 points (8th in the league) 

2. Leon Cui – 123 points (9th in the league) 

3. Adam Ge – 115 points (11th in the league) 

4. Shaun Liang – 112 points (13th in the league) 

5. Ewan Wills – 94 points (17th in the league) 

6. Johnny Fang – 92 points (19th in the league) 

7. Danny Liu – 76 points (25th in the league) 

8. Matthew Li – 22 points (47th in the league) 

There were approximately 100 players competing in Division 2, and multiple Knights Red players finished in the league’s top 20 scorers. This highlights the team’s balanced offence and strong teamwork. 

A Humble Threepeat 

Achieving a threepeat is an incredible milestone, yet Knights Red remain humble. Their success is not just about individual skill but also about teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. This season is a testament to their dedication and continuous improvement, setting the stage for even greater achievements ahead.
